An up-and-down regular season ended on a high note for the Christ Presbyterian Academy Lions Friday.

On senior night, the Lions (4-6, 4-2) shut out Region 4-3A foe Whites Creek 40-0.

CPA did most of its work offensively on the ground. Behind James Deaton (10 rushes, 98 yards, two touchdowns) and Kane Patterson (four rushes, 81 yards, two TDs), the Lions racked up 342 yards rushing.

The Cobras (3-7, 1-5) also couldn’t find any room to move the ball against CPA’s defense. They managed 276 total yards of offense and were shut out for the second time this season.

A long regular season in which the defending state Class 3A runner-up Lions finished just 4-6 overall turned positive the last four weeks. They won three of four to head into the postseason, outscoring their opponents 142-50.

CPA will travel to play Region 4-3A runner up DeKalb County (7-3, 5-1) in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs next week.
