Centennial Cougars Celebrate Homecoming by Rushing Past Clarksville

After a big win over West Creek by the Cougars last week, Centennial would return home for homecoming and top the Clarksville Wildcats 42-5. The Cougars would shake off a slow start before racing out to victory.

centennial homecomingOn the wet field, the Cougars struggled to get anything going. Three penalties and dropped snap would set the Wildcats up in scoring range, where they would take the 3-0 lead. Centennial would call on Tyrel Dodson, who would take the ball 52 yards for a touchdown, giving the Cougars the 7-3 lead at the end of the first.

In the second quarter, Mondu Sawyers would finish a Cougar drive with a 1 yard touchdown run. Dodson would add his second touchdown from 3 yards out to make the score 21-3. Tristan Pisacane would step in at quarterback for the injured Blake Lovell, and throw a touchdown pass to Austin Waddell from 32 yards out. At the end of the first half, the score was 28-3.

Early in the second half, Sawyers would add his second touchdown from 2 yards out. Senturian Dureaux would cap the Cougar scoring with a 3 yard touchdown run. The Wildcats would add a safety after a bad snap on a punt attempt by Centennial to set the final score at 42-5.

Mondu Sawyers would finish the game with 166 yards on 24 carries and 2 touchdowns. Tyrel Dodson would add 97 yards on 7 rushes and 2 touchdowns. Tristan Pisacane finished the evening 4 for 6 with 47 yards and a touchdown through the air.

The Cougars travel to Brentwood High School in a battle of Class 5A Region 7 unbeatens. Centennial goes into the game at 6-1, 4-0 in regional play while the Bruins are 4-3, 4-0 in regional play.
