Cougars Pluck Hawks To Stay Perfect In Regional Play

Centennial used a huge first half to remain undefeated in Region 7-5A, topping Rossview 40-8 in Clarksville. The Cougars ran out to a 33-0 halftime lead, before pulling their starters to rest up for next week’s regional championship game against Henry County.

The Cougars opened the scoring 20 seconds into the game, as Tyrel Dodson returned the opening kickoff 87 yards for a Cougar touchdown. A two-point conversion gave Centennial the 8-0 lead. The Cougars would shut the Hawks out through the first half, before wrapping up their scoring with a 25-yard Mondu Sawyers touchdown. Rossview would manage only one touchdown to set the final margin at 40-8.

The Cougars offense was massive through the air, as Tristan Pisacane took advantage of an overmatched Rossview defense. Devious Christman caught 15 passes for 118 yards and one touchdown, while Mondu Sanders added 9 catches for 142 yards and two touchdowns. The Cougars were intercepted in the endzone twice, being the only thing slowing the Cougar offense.

The Cougars return home next week to face the Henry County Patriots. The Cougars and Patriots have matching 8-1, 6-0 in Region 7-5A. The Patriots are coming off a 22-15 win over Brentwood. The game will determine the champion of Region 7-5A.
