Costume Designer Matt Logan Helps Reba Bring “Fancy” to a New Level

During the CMA Awards Show last week, all three hosts, Dolly, Reba, and Carrie Underwood performed. But it was Reba who stole the show with her hit song “Fancy” and impressive costumes.

Reba’s “Fancy” performance included three costume changes. The three costumes – a purple robe with white feathers, a red dress and a red pantsuit – were designed by Williamson County resident and former Artistic Director of Studio Tenn Matt Logan.

Logan told InStyle Magazine, “I bought the fabrics in New York City and landed back in Nashville three weeks to the day of the show.”However, this series of dresses required us to rehearse the changes as well. That brought it to a two-and-a-half week process. It is a very tight timeline for something that not only has hundreds of details but it had to ‘work’ — meaning it had to do tricks. I mainly live in a costume world and we are used to pulling off the impossible, but this was a tall order!”

What does it take to hold together two amazing red outfits? Logan shared the total was 1,000 yards of red thread and it took six different fittings to perfect the look with input from Reba’s Creative Director Justin McIntosh.

We still want to know how Reba went from a dress to a pantsuit? Reba told InStyle,”How do you get a pantsuit out of a dress in two seconds? That takes some creativity and magic! I hope people are wowed and surprised by it. And selfishly, I want them to say ‘Dang, Reba’s still got it!'”

Yes, Reba you still got it! And Matt Logan, well done on pulling off such an incredible moment we will talking about for many CMA Award shows to come.
