The City of Brentwood has issued the following  notice regarding construction that will take place at the intersection of Moores Lane & Carothers Parkway:

Those of you who travel Moores Lane frequently may have noticed construction barrels along northbound Carothers Parkway approaching Moores Lane. A project will soon be underway to construct a new dedicated right turn lane for traffic going east on Moores Lane which will allow the existing right turn lane to become a second thru lane to I-65. The intent of the project is to relieve the significant congestion that occurs on northbound Carothers mainly during the evening rush hour when two lanes merge to one going north. The project requires replacement of a traffic signal pole which can take up to 4 months to be delivered. Therefore, final completion is not expected until early June. The project also includes drainage improvements in the intersection to hopefully eliminate the rutting of the road that exists there today.

Other Road Construction Projects in Brentwood Underway:

Concord Road Widening from Jones Parkway to Arrowhead Drive – The City has entered into a contract with the TN Department of Transportation (TDOT) for development of a project to widen Concord Road between Jones Parkway and Arrowhead Drive. The road will be widened to 3 lanes with curb and gutter, a separated 10-foot wide bike/pedestrian path running along the south side of the improved road, and a 5-foot wide sidewalk on the north side of the road from Jones Parkway east to Steeplechase Drive. Funding for the project will include $3 million in federal highway funds and approximately $1.2 million in City funding. Construction is underway at this time. Primary work at this point is related to relocation of affected utilities (water, gas, and electric). This project is scheduled to be complete late spring of 2016.

Concord Road East Project – Concord Road improvements from Sunset Road (inside city limits) to Nolensville Road (outside city limits). The road is being widened to 3 lanes with a separated 10-foot bikeway lane. The City is funding engineering design and right-of-way acquisition. Project management and construction will be done by the Tennessee Dept. of Transportation.

TDOT has awarded a construction contract to Mountain States Contractors. At this time, utility relocation work continues along with storm drain installation, general grading and bridge work at both Owl Creek and Mill Creek. Traffic has been moved to new lanes in a few locations. Motorists can expect occasional, short-term lane closures to allow equipment operate within the construction zone. Construction is expected to be complete around the middle of 2016.
