Columbia State to Host 20th Anniversary Commercial Entertainment Reunion

It’s been 20 years since the commercial entertainment program started at Columbia State Community College, and Friday, June 5, the public is invited to celebrate the 20th Anniversary Commercial Entertainment Reunion.

“This is an opportunity for the community to learn about the program and get to know some of the program’s alumni,” said Cathy Hudnall, program director and assistant professor of commercial entertainment. “We want to show the community what we’re about, as well as give supporters a chance to visit with the alumni and their family and friends.”

Friday’s program will feature alumni of the program, as well as current students who have earned their certificate and have returned to complete the two-year degree program.

The performance will include a variety of selections from Columbia State’s musical theater performances over the past two decades, as well as contemporary vocal and dance performances.

The performance is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and Freddie Smith’s Gourmet Desserts and a beverage will be served at 7 p.m. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the stage area of the Williamson Campus.

Seating is limited, so please RSVP to Hudnall at (615) 790-4420 or [email protected].

Columbia State’s Williamson Campus is located at 104 Claude Yates Drive next to Franklin High School off Hillsboro Road in Franklin. Additional information about the commercial entertainment program can be found at www.ColumbiaState.edu/CEN.

Columbia State commercial entertainment students can learn all aspects of the performance industry, including commercial voice, studio recording, songwriting, dance, acting, technical theater and entertainment business.

Columbia State’s commercial entertainment program offers a one-year technical certificate program for those who want to immediately enter the entertainment field upon completion of the program or a two-year degree program for those who plan to transfer to a university and complete a bachelor’s degree in vocal performance, songwriting, dance or commercial music production.
