Woman’s Club Presents Endowment to Columbia State

The Brentwood Chapter of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs presented a $12,500 scholarship endowment to The Columbia State Community College Foundation on May 6.

The endowment was presented at the “Step-Up, It’s A Charity Affair” luncheon and silent auction held at the Brentwood Country Club. This year is the 40th anniversary year for the Brentwood Woman’s Club, an organization dedicated to community improvement through volunteer service.

“This is our 40th anniversary, and we have decided to present Columbia State with a gift of $12,500, which fully endows a scholarship fund for Columbia State students,” said Paula Uhlir, Brentwood Woman’s Club first vice-president and education community service program co-chairman. “Each year, women from Williamson County will benefit from this endowed scholarship.”

“This will make a difference in someone’s life,” Columbia State President, Dr. Janet F. Smith said. “I want to thank the Brentwood Woman’s Club on behalf of all the young ladies whose lives will be touched by what they have done.”

The Columbia State Foundation, formed in 1981, exists to foster support and partnerships with Columbia State in order to positively impact student success. Columbia State is Tennessee’s first community college and has locations in Columbia, Franklin, Lawrenceburg, Lewisburg and Clifton.
