Chad Pregracke, CNN Hero of the Year

CNN Hero of the Year, Chad Pregracke, will host a breakfast event this Friday at the Franklin Theatre as part of ‘Keep Tennessee Beautiful Month.’ The event begins at 7:30am and Williamson Source will stream it LIVE.

About Chad:
Chad Pregracke cleaned 7 million tons of trash from the Mississippi River. He accomplished this by generating more than 700 cleanup days along the Mississippi River through his nonprofit organization known as Living Lands and Waters. He organized more than 70,000 volunteers to pick up 7 million tons of trash, 90% of which has been recycled. In December, he was nominated and awarded Hero of the Year by CNN viewers.

Not only does Chad have a passion for his environmental causes, but he is a true humanitarian. Of his $250,000 in winnings, he gave $10,000 each to the other nine finalists.

There could be no one better to kick off Keep Tennessee Beautiful Month.

March is “Keep Tennessee Beautiful” month and Chad will jump start the month by hosting a public, breakfast event at the Franklin Theatre on March 7th. The program is open to the public and runs from 7:30a-9a. Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam will be among those attending.

“Chad is proof that one person can make a difference. His passion and dedication have motivated countless others, including myself, to get involved. TDOT was proud to join him for the massive clean-up effort on the Mississippi River,” said John Schroer, honorary chairman of the event, former Mayor of Franklin and Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Transportation. “He is truly a hero, and we thank him for helping us bring positive change to communities across Tennessee.”
