Brentwood Academy Lady Eagles (25-6, 11-2)

Ensworth Lady Tigers (25-3, 10-2)

The first quarter consisted of BA & Ensworth feeling each other out. With the state title within reach, the last thing either wanted to do was suffer an early knockout blow and it showed with both teams combining for a total of 18 points.

At the start of second, Ensworth apparently figured out everything they needed to because they owned the quarter. Almost outscoring BA’s total points for the game in the second alone.

The Lady Tigers would bolster a 23-14 edge heading into the half at Allen Arena.

The Second Half

In the third the Lady Eagles would come out more focused and ready to throw a few punches of their own. The only problem, so did Ensworth. By the time BA had found itself, an Ensworth route was already in progress. The Lady Tigers would produce their most offensively effective quarter, scoring 17 and shooting 60% from the field.

The end was in sight at the start of the fourth for Ensworth as they held a double-digit lead and hadn’t allowed BA a double-digit scoring quarter yet. The only variable to be determined was the margin of victory for the Lady Tigers.

Ensworth would defeat Brentwood Academy by a score of 58 to 38 to earn the 2017 Division II Class AA Girls’ State Championship.

High scorer from Ensworth and game MVP, Jordyn Cambridge, with 17 points to go along with two assists and four rebounds. Brentwood Academy’s high scorer, Blair Schoenwald with eight.
