City of Spring Hill Building Inspector Job Available

The City of Spring Hill is seeking to hire a building inspector who will perform tasks associated with technical building inspection and preliminary plan exam work.  The job posting will be open until filled as of January 15, 2015. The incumbent in this position will:

Inspect residential and commercial buildings during various stages of construction and remodeling; enforce compliance with current City of Spring Hill codes, ordinances and regulations; recommend modification and adjustment as necessary; provide timely and thorough reports of each inspection.

Approve inspected areas for certificates of occupancy.

Inspect existing residential and commercial structures for change of use, occupancy, or compliance with current City of Spring Hill codes and ordinances.

Inspect foundation, Plumbing, Mechanical, concrete, steel, masonry, wood construction, framing, plastering, installations and a large variety of other complex and routine building system elements for both residential and commercial construction.

Confer with architects, contractors, builders and the public; explain and interpret requirements and restrictions of current City of Spring Hill codes and ordinances.

Receive calls and answer questions regarding permits and code requirements.

Maintain files and reports regarding inspection activities and findings on all active projects.

Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED required. 5+ years of increasingly responsible building construction or inspection experience, including 2 years working with plumbing/mechanical required. Valid Tennessee Drivers’ License. ICC/State Mechanical and Plumbing certification required. ICC building inspector certification must be obtained within 1 year.
