City Farmhouse Pop-up Show Returns to The Factory

City Farmhouse

The City Farmhouse Pop-up Fair will return to The Factory at Franklin in downtown Franklin this weekend to host 60 hand-selected exhibitors and a wide range of antique goods, vintage wares, jewelry and handmade selections.

Designers, private collectors, Nashville celebrities – even museum curators – pepper the Pop-up Fair crowd each season, making up the thousands who flock to the event seeking those one-of-kind finds the City Farmhouse Pop-up Fair is heralded for.

Curated by Kim and David Leggett–owners of City Farmhouse, the downtown Franklin antiques shop from where the event derives its name–the Pop-up Fair will kick off in the Factory’s Jamison Hall, the outside Courtyard, and a Special Group Tent covering the hall parking lot on Friday, Oct. 14 with an early buying session from 8 a.m. to Noon. General admission gates will open at 1 p.m., and the shopping will continue through 5 p.m. On Saturday, Oct. 15, the fun begins again at 9 a.m., until a 3 p.m. closing time.

“We’re bringing in a crop of vendors from across the country, from as far away as New York City, North Carolina, and Oklahoma that we are extremely excited about, many of whom our friends have never shopped with before,” said Kim. “Of course, there is always an emphasis on American and French farmhouse wares at our fairs, but you’ll also see Swedish antiques this year, as well as handmade jewelry, folk art, Tennessee pottery and more.”

The Leggett’s City Farmhouse Pop-ups have gained a reputation for their festival-like atmosphere, using entertainment and an array of local food trucks – including Puckett’s Trolley, Califarmia, and Ellie’s Doughnuts – to complement the booths filled with selections spanning all eras and styles. Attendees will shop to the tune of live music this year, which includes local favorites the likes of Pat Benatar’s opening act Raquel Aruila, Music City Strings, and more.

Since 2011, the Leggetts have developed this series of pop-ups to host some of the most renowned antique vendors from across the country, many of whom reflect the Leggetts’ trademark rustic modern aesthetic–now widely referred to in certain circles as “City Farmhouse style.” The pair estimates that their Pop-up Fairs have drawn upwards of 50,000 people from all over the world to the Williamson County event since its conception, and there’s no indication of its popularity slowing down.

“Our fairs give shoppers an opportunity to pick from unique items that have been ‘picked’ from all over the country, and from vendors who we have personally formed friendships with,” Kim said. “We’ve seen these pop-ups grow in popularity largely because of how the festival-goers are inspired at the event – by the creativity seen in booth styling, in the conversations they may have with dealers, and by forming relationships with other shoppers at the show.

“My favorite part is following up with shoppers after the fair to see how they’ve styled their finds!”

Kim and David’s “picking” status and signature style have earned them celebrity clients and credits in major national publications, from Romantic Country and Garden & Gun to Architectural Digest. Due to industry reputation, you never know who you might see among the crowd – in November 2015, Sheryl Crow acted as an event vendor, donating $20,000 of proceeds to the World Food Program U.S.A. Crow, who is a personal fan of City Farmhouse, is one of many Nashville stars that could be spotted shopping the pop-up grounds over the years.

Those who want to have a first-look at the goods should buy a $25.00 early-buying ticket for Friday, which also grants weekend access. General admission tickets are $12.00 per person, and two-day passes are $15.00.

Tickets may be purchased at the door, or at City Farmhouse website.
