Chayce Bishop—that’s right, Chayce Bishop—scored a pair of touchdowns, helping Independence to an easy 51-0 win over Memphis East on Friday night.

The former Brentwood High School star, who transferred this week after playing a key role for Brentwood this year, caught a pass for 35 yards and ran six yards on his only rush, both were scores. The son of former Titans star Blaine Bishop enrolled at Independence within the last week; the family recently moved and he was immediately ruled eligible by the TSSAA.

Receiver Isaiah Collier added a pair of touchdowns, one on a 48-yard catch and the other, a 50-yard rush. Quarterback Ethan Cash was 4 of 5 for 100 yards passing, adding a carry for seven yards.

The Eagles (5-4) have now posted shutouts in consecutive weeks.

Independence’s newfound defense, plus, the addition of Bishop, has a chance to change the complexion of its season. Bishop, a junior with scholarship offers from Northwestern and Vanderbilt, according to Rivals, joins Collier and Purdue commit T.J. Sheffield to form the county’s best receiving threesome.

Friday marked the fifth time Independence had scored at least 40 points.

Independence hosts Ravenwood (7-2) in its regular-season finale next Friday.
