Chamber Members Urged to Apply Interim School Board Position

Williamson, Inc. is encouraging it’s  members to apply for the interim school board position. The position became open when Williamson County Schools (WCS) board member Paul Bartholomew announced his resignation to the board and county commissioners. Having the state’s highest achieving school system is an important reason why companies move to Williamson County, and, as part of our mission, we help build strong leaders who are positioned to move our rapidly growing economy forward. Williamson, Inc. is urging business leaders to thoughtfully consider serving, or making viable recommendations for, the vacant District 4 seat.

Instructions for applying for the open seat will be posted by the County. At that time, submit your resume to the county mayor’s office: 1320 West Main Street, Suite 125, Franklin, TN 37064, or call 615-790-5700 to submit your name for consideration.

Recommendation of an individual to fill the vacancy is made to the County Commission by the two 4th district Commissioners Kathy Danner and Gregg Lawrence; however, nominations may be made from any member of the legislative body on the floor at the time the Chairman calls for nominations. At this time, the two 4th County Commissioners are in consultation with the County Attorney on how to conduct interviews of the interested individuals without violating the sunshine law. All questions should be directed to the county mayor’s office at 615-790-5700

The candidate appointed for the interim term would serve the 2015-16 school year. Should the interim board member wish to retain the seat beyond appointment, he or she must be elected in the next General Election August 4, 2016.
