Locally owned by Helen Spivey and Phyllis Eldridge, Ceramic & Craft Workshop in Franklin will be closing its doors.

After 40 years in business at 1214 Columbia Avenue, October 31 will be their last day of business. Typically, the workshop is closed on the weekends, however, they will hold a special sale this weekend. You can purchase all bisque items and premade items in the store at a discount which includes current holiday items. Molds are not included in the sale.Hours of the sale will be Saturday and Sunday 11 a – 5 p.

The property is in the process of being acquired by Franklin’s Charge, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving America’s threatened Civil War battlefields in Williamson County. A major project of the non-profit is the development of Carter Hill Battlefield Park. Franklin’s Charge purchased a strip center (where Domino’s was located) on Columbia Ave to make way for the battlefield park.

In addition, Franklin’s Charge has actively worked to educate the public about the 1864 Schofield- Hood campaigns, the 1864 Battle of Franklin, the 1863 Battle of Thompson’s Station, the Union earthworks in Triune, and other Civil War events in Middle Tennessee. Further, Franklin’s Charge has been an active participant in heritage tourism, American Civil War history programs, and preservation efforts.
