Carothers Pkwy South Exit to Open 9/23

Carothers Parkway South Extension will be welcomed with a grand opening on Wednesday, Sept. 23. Members of the Franklin Board of Aldermen and Planning Commission had the privilege of being some of the first to ride Saturday on the extension while introduced to development in the area during a mobile workshop.

“We are really excited about it opening,” said Paul Holzen, Franklin director of engineering, who also attended the tour. The Carothers extension is going to provide a lot of secondary connections, he added. Officials are expecting approximately 23,000 vehicles a day to travel the road with planned development in the area, which Holzen said is the equivalent to traffic on Cool Springs Boulevard.

One word of caution on the 23rd, Holzen said. “We expect it to be a little rough because (people from approximately) 500 houses are going to try this alternative when it opens. But we will be ready.”
