Carlisle Named Regional Teacher of the Year

Moore Elementary School teacher Shannon Carlisle was selected by the Tennessee Department of Education as a regional winner of the Tennessee Teacher of the Year competition. She was selected by a panel of judges who reviewed all of the District Teacher of the Year candidates from the 15 school districts comprising the Mid-Cumberland Center of Regional Excellence (CORE) area.

Carlisle, a 14-year teaching veteran, is the Accelerated Learning teacher at Moore Elementary School.  “Mrs. Carlisle is an exceptional teacher who creates a learning environment for her students that focuses on deep understanding of the concepts,” said her principal, Lisa Burgin. She is now eligible for the state competition. Sometime this Summer three Grand Division Teachers of the Year will be selected, and one of those will be named Tennessee Teacher of the Year.

“We are all extremely proud of Mrs. Carlisle and are so appreciative of the positive impact she has on the students she teaches,” said FSSD Director of Schools Dr. David Snowden. “She is a great representative of the other talented and dedicated teachers in the FSSD.” Carlisle has been at Moore Elementary for 8 years and is highly respected. “During the past two years, I have transformed my 4th grade classroom into a full-time accelerated learning program with defined program goals and an identification process,” said Carlisle.

Congratulations Mrs. Carlisle and thank you for all the hard work!
