After 39 years, the Captain D’s, located at 108 New Highway 96 West, has closed. All of the signage and furniture inside the building has been removed.
A note has been placed on the door stating, “Captain D’s Guest Thank You for the Memories! Please come visit us at Our Cool Springs location! Hope to see you soon!”
This location originally opened in May of 1979 and has changed hands twice since then.
On the Captain D’s website, the New Highway 96 location is not listed. The only locations in Williamson County shown are 1925 Mallory Lane, Franklin, and 2096 Wall Street, Spring Hill.
The first Captain D’s opened in Donelson, TN in 1969 and was called Mr. D’s. The “D” is the initial of the last name of the co-founder, Ray Danner. The goal then was to serve high quality, quick-service seafood. Fast forward to over 40 years later, and Captain D’s has grown to almost 600 restaurants in 23 states and several countries overseas.
That sucks!
I agree, my family has been faithful patrons of this Captain D’s for years. I know they won’t go to Cool Springs, will lose their business, hates Cool Springs!!
Then one on Charlotte Pike in Nashville has also closed
What the hell??…SERIOUSLY!!!!…guessing MCDONALD’S will be next

What a great location for something healthy! I would love it if a drive through Panera Bread went in its place. It would be such a healthy, popular alternative. The one in Cool Springs is usually packed.
The other suggestion I have, Walker Brothers Breakfast! This is an incredibly popular breakfast spot in Illinois. I think everyone would love it.
