Candlelight Vigil for Orlando Victims to be Held in Spring Hill Next Week

Orlando

Spring Hill’s LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community is planning to hold a vigil in the wake of a deadly mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando earlier this month that left 49 dead and 53 injured.

According to event organizer Monica Maday, the aim of the event is simply to come together to grieve, mourn and pray. It is focused on all those who live in Spring Hill, Columbia, Maury County and Williamson County, and is not meant to be any sort of a political rally. Rather, it is a way for the community to come together to support one another.

Maday started a community group on Facebook last fall designed to support local LGBT residents from around the Spring Hill area. It began last Thanksgiving as a local effort to provide an inclusive holiday dinner for the area’s LGBT community.

The candlelight vigil for the victims of the Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting will be held at Spring Hill’s Harvey Park on Wednesday, June 29 at 7:30 p.m.

Harvey Park is located at 4001 Miles Johnson Parkway, Spring Hill.
