The rain last week not only helped assuage the ferocity of the brush fires in East Tennessee, but also lowered the level of fire risk in Williamson County.
The state Department of Agriculture Forestry Division decided last Wednesday, Nov. 30, to lift its county-wide burn ban put in place on Oct. 30.
In the decision, per the department’s fire safety website, burnsafetn.org, the recent “substantial rainfall” was cited as the reason.
Permits to burn are still required through May 15, and can be obtained through the burn safe website above.
The burn ban applied to open-air burning, which included campfires, and burning of brush, vegetation and construction debris.
