Game 1 between the Brentwood Bruins and Independence Eagles went to extra innings in Thompson’s Station Monday night with the Bruins eventually coming away with the 5-3 victory.
Tied 3-3 after seven innings, the Bruins pushed across two runs in the top of eighth and Indy couldn’t answer in the bottom of the frame.
Brentwood’s Drew Johnson and Kaden Dreier each had two runs batted in for the Bruins.
Despite the loss, Indy’s Tommy Morren had an impressive night on the mound, throwing 7 2/3 innings and striking out nine Bruin batters.
Josh Galloway threw seven innings for Brentwood – striking out four – before Luke Reidy came in and got the save.
Game 2 of the series is at 6:30 p.m. at Brentwood.
