BrightStone Honors Volunteers in May

BrightStone held its Annual Volunteer Luncheon earlier in May to honor over 130 individuals who volunteered their time and service to their cause. Chuy’s catered the lunch held at BrightStone and the BrightStone Choir performed for those in attendance. Many were thanked for contributions in areas of direct services, special events, Board of Directors and committee leadership, and student product finishing.

Two volunteers were recognized for going above and beyond for the organization. Lisa Hasty and Laura Hill were this year’s special honorees. “Lisa has volunteered as a teacher’s assistant one day each week for the past 9 years. Her skills in ceramics and her obvious commitment and concern for BrightStone adults have made her a valued assistant in the job training center,” said Tina Majors, Director of Fund Development. “Laura has given her time and talent to BrightStone for the past 11 years.  She has produced and been the Master of Ceremonies for BrightStone’s annual Songwriter’s Night Benefit, “Music That Touches the Heart,” each year since its beginning.  She also served on BrightStone’s Board of Directors.”

“Our volunteers are the heart and soul of BrightStone and we are so grateful for them,” shared Executive Director and Founder, Brenda Hauk. “We are blessed to have such dedicated and talented volunteers who help us everyday enrich the lives of these precious adults who live with special needs.” BrightStone’s post secondary education program offers a variety of opportunities for job training and life skills education, including a health and wellness program, music program and community awareness program for adults with developmental and intellectual challenges. BrightStone is a 501(c)3 located at 140 Southeast Parkway Court, Franklin.
