Brentwood Wins Distinguished Budget Award

City of Brentwood Budget AwardFor the 27th consecutive year, the City of Brentwood’s Finance Department has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award presented by the Government Finance Officers Association for the Fiscal Year beginning July 1, 2017 budget.  This award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting.

The award represents a significant achievement by the City Finance Department and the City Manager’s office, who both put a tremendous amount of work into the preparation of the annual operating budget along with the six-year Capital Improvements Program.  In order to receive the award, Brentwood published a budget document that met minimum program criteria, an operations guide, a financial plan, and included an effective communication medium to the public.  You may view the complete budget on the city’s website.

A Certificate of Recognition for Budget Presentation will be presented to the City of Brentwood Finance team.   This presentation will be made at 9am at the Thursday February 22 City Commission informational meeting in the Annex Room located on the second floor at City Hall.

Mayor Jill Burgin said, “Twenty-seven years is a long time to be awarded such a prestigious honor.  Our finance department has undergone the death of a previous director, an interim director, and now a new director over the course of a few years.  Throughout all this change, the entire department has remained on track for success and commitment to its citizens and for that we thank you.”

The Government Finance Officers Association is a major  professional  association  servicing the needs of nearly  19,000 appointed  and  elected  local, state, and provincial-level  government  officials and other finance practitioners . The GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.
