Brentwood quarterback Carson Shacklett threw two touchdown passes and ran for two, as the Bruins beat Father Ryan, 42-21, on the road on Friday.

Shacklett was 17-of-20 passing for 310 yards, and carried 10 times for 12 more yards for the Bruins (7-1).

Father Ryan put up 406 yards against the Bruin defense–a rare feat–but lost a fumble and an interception.

Brentwood broke open a 14-all tie early in the second half, and poured it on from there.

The Bruins’ Avery Williams (six receptions, 146 yards) caught his second touchdown, this one, a 66-yarder, giving Brentwood a 21-14, third-quarter lead.

After Father Ryan (4-4) fumbled away the ensuing kickoff, Kaden Dreier’s 1-yard run out of the wildcat formation helped the Bruins add to the lead.

Shacklett’s 9-yard run and another 1-yard scoring run from Dreier later extended the margin to 42-21.

Father Ryan scored first, with Seamus O’Connell hitting Jackson Byrd with a 5-yard pass about five minutes into the game.

Brentwood quarterback Carson Shacklett answered with an 11-yard scoring run, the point-after tying the game at 7.

Brentwood took a 14-7 lead following Williams’s touchdown catch, a 53-yarder coming off a screen pass.

O’Connell’s 1-yard touchdown run helped the Fighting Irish tie the game late in the first half.

Parker Bullion, who also stars at receiver for Brentwood, had a second-half interception after Austin Chaffin tipped the throw.

Linebacker C.J. Grissim had eight solo stops and six assists for Brentwood.

Jordan Nicholas ran 23 times for 82 yards for Brentwood, which had 412 yards of total offense.

Father Ryan has next week off, and then travels to Baylor on Oct. 20. Brentwood also takes a week off before hosting Marshall County.
