Brentwood took home its first win of the season last week, making them 1-3. They will take on Dickson Co and return to home field again this week.

Brentwood started the season 0-3, losing a heartbreaking home opener to CPA and falling to Centennial for the first time in school history. But against Hendersonville, Brentwood returned to form and scored five touchdowns in a 35-31 victory over Hendersonville.

Last week, quarterback Aaron Maher threw the winning pass for the Bruins to Caleb Tyler and secured a victory score of 34-31 over the undefeated Hendersonville Commandos (3-1) and running back Austin Wells rushed for 108 yards, the first time he’s rushed for over 100 yards in a game this season. Brentwood was on fire as fans, friends, and parents all rushed the field in excitement for its new-found victory on Homecoming night.

The Cougars suffered a 35-42 loss to Houston (4-0) last week to bring their standing record of 0-4. In District 10 last season, Dickson County finished out with a 10-2 record. Facing teams like Kenwood (2-2), Creek Wood (1-3), and Rossview (4-0), the navy and orange team was already 5-0 this time last year.
The Bruins will certainly be fired up this week to tackle the Cougars. Head coach Mike Woodward say they won the “turn over battle” on Friday night. “Every time Hendersonville came out and made a play…we answered.”

“We’ve had so many negative things happen to us through the course of those first three games,” stated Woodward, “and it felt good to see the guys, ya know, be rewarded for all the work they put in.”

Dickson County, meanwhile, is reeling heading into Week 4 coming off its fourth straight loss. Senior Otis Gerron currently leads the team in rushing yards with 610; meanwhile, quarterback Will Harmon has completed 24 of 54 passes this season for 379 yards.

Both Brentwood and Dickson Co. are 0-1 in district rankings. The Bruins will kick-off over at home this Friday at 7:00 p.m.
