Cane Ridge avenged its only loss of the season with a 28-13, second-round win over Brentwood in the second round of the TSSAA Class 6A playoffs on Friday.

It was a rare off-night for Brentwood quarterback Carson Shacklett. The senior, playing in his final high school game, was 12-of-20 passing for 117 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. He ran 22 times for nine yards.

The Bruins’ defense have up 406 yards, though it did record two interceptions.

Btrentwood’s Kaden Dreier scored with 6:07 left in the third quarter, bringing the Bruins to within 14-13. But Cane Ridge scored the game’s last 28 points.

Shacklett found wide receiver Parker Bullion for a 17-yard touchdown, as Brentwood took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter.

Cane Ridge answered when Devon Starling scored a rushing touchdown with 2:24 left in the quarter.

Cane Ridge left 14-7 at half.

Henry Glenn had a first-half interception for Brentwood.

Brentwood’s season ended at 10-2, while Cane Ridge faces Ravenwood next week.
