Brentwood Teen Killed After Crash on Electric Motorcycle in Nashville

A Brentwood teenager died from injuries sustained in an electric motorcycle crash over the weekend.

Police said Cheathan Babu, 15, lost control of the motorcycle while riding at a high rate of speed down the sidewalk of Old Hickory Boulevard near High Lea Road on Saturday afternoon. He was thrown from the motorcycle and struck a fire hydrant.

A witness reported the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on the sidewalk at an estimated 40–50 miles per hour at the time of the crash.

Babu, who attended Brentwood High School, was transported to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital, where he died Sunday morning.

According to investigators, preliminary contributing factors in the crash appear to be reckless driving and inexperience.
