Brentwood Rotary Club Provides Scholarships With Pancake Breakfast

O'More College of Design

Rotary brings together a global network of volunteer leaders dedicated to tackling the world’s most pressing humanitarian challenges. Rotary connects 1.2 million members of more than 34,000 Rotary clubs in over 200 countries and geographical areas. Their work improves lives at both the local and international levels, from helping families in need in their own communities.

The local Brentwood Rotary Club raises money through fundraisers like their Pancake Breakfast to support local charities. One of the ways they support the community is by providing college scholarships to students. Recently we spoke to Carolyn Doung the recipient of the recent scholarship who attends O’More College of Design.

When we asked how Doung learned of the scholarship program with the Rotary, she stated.

“While I was enrolled at Overton High School, my guidance counselor recommended that I apply to the Brentwood Rotary Club Scholarship.”

Doung went on to say how much the scholarship has impacted her efforts at O’More College of Design.

“The scholarship has really pushed me to concentrate more on my academics due to its support and qualifications. Along the way, I also have met some wonderful people whom have provided their utmost support, such as Rodger Wheelwright and Robert Fink. ”

In 1970, Eloise founded the O’More School of Design. Classes were held in her Victorian home on West Main Street in Franklin, where she taught each of the interior design courses. In 1979, the college moved to its present location–a sweeping seven-acres tucked into the heart of Historic Downtown Franklin—and became O’More College of Design.
