After one of its best regular seasons in recent memory, the Brentwood Bruins will host McGavock Friday in the first week of Class 6A high school football playoffs.

The Bruins, who came in second place in their district to the only team that beat them this year, Ravenwood, finished the season 9-1.

They had both the best offense and best defense in thier district, averaging 33 points scored against just 15 given up per game.

Maxpreps ranks them as the sixth best team in Tennessee.

McGavock, which finished 5-5 on the year, should be a big underdog.

They averaged 19 points per game but gave up 25.

It is easy to compare the two teams because they both played three of the same teams: Franklin, Cane Ridge and Stewarts Creek.

Brentwood beat Franklin, in the first game of the year, 14-10. They beat Cane Ridge convincingly 41-21. And they completely blew Stewarts Creek out 42-7.

McGavock, on the other hand, lost to Franklin badly, 34-7.

The Raiders also lost to Cane Ridge, getting completely blown out 43-0, and losing to Stewarts Creek 28-22. Think of it this way: against common opponents, Brentwood won by an average of 20 points, while Mcgavock averaged a 25-point loss.

Expect a huge Bruin win.
