The Brentwood Police Department locked down Brentwood Academy, Brentwood High School and Middle School this morning while chasing a suspect who fled arrest.

For about an hour, the schools stayed locked down while BPD chased the suspect, who was apprehended in a barn near the school, Tommy Walsh, Brentwood assistant police chief, said.

Matthew Stovall (pictured above), 21, of 2505 Larkton Place, Franklin, TN, was the man fleeing, and he had three warrants out for his arrest, though nothing extremely serious, said Walsh.

Will Co Deputy Brian Welch stopped Stovall, who was wanted on several charges including violation of probation and failure to appear in court. As Welch went to handcuff him, Stovall pulled away and ran to the Brentwood Academy campus on Granny White Pike.

Though, he did not attempt to enter the schools, Walsh said.

Still, to err on the safe side, the schools were put on lockdown.

At 11:26 a.m. police found and arrested the suspect.

Stovall was put in Williamson County Jail and additionally charged with resisting arrest, fleeing to avoid arrest and driving on a revoked/suspended license. He is being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in Williamson County General Sessions Court on March 27 at 1 p.m.
