At approximately 11:45 am on Sunday, September 30th Brentwood Police responded to the Walgreens at 1619 Franklin Road on a report of a robbery in progress. Responding officers were initially unable to locate the suspect who had reportedly held the clerk at knife point before fleeing the store.
An investigation determined that the suspect posed as a customer before jumping over the counter with a knife. The suspect held the clerk at knife point and ordered her to open the cash drawer. The clerk managed to pull away from the suspect who fled after being unable to open the drawer. The suspect was last seen fleeing the store on foot. The clerk was not injured during this incident.
At approximately 2:00 pm Brentwood officers were dispatched to a vehicle crash on Concord Road at I-65 where one of the drivers had fled the crash scene on foot. Officers located the suspect on the I-65 south ramp and took him into custody without incident. Officers immediately noticed that the suspect matched the physical and clothing description from the earlier robbery at Walgreens. Information was developed which ultimately linked the suspect to the robbery and possibly to other incidents which were reported in Davidson County. The vehicle the suspect was driving at the time of the crash was also found to be reported stolen.
The suspect, who was identified as Justin Conyers, was arrested and transported to the Williamson County Jail where he was charged with Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Theft over $10,000 and several traffic related offenses. He is currently being held on a $421,500 bond. The suspects mugshot is being withheld at this time pending the investigation of other incidents in Davidson County.
