Around 3:30am, Brentwood Police Officer Cliff Thompson responded to a call from Metro police regarding a reckless driver, who was driving the wrong way on I-65 near the Moores Lane exit.
Thompson used his patrol car to stop the driver–59-year-old Sandra Sharpe. His patrol car and the driver hit head-on. Both suffered minor injuries and were transported to Williamson Medical Center. Officer Thompson has since been released.
The collision closed interior lanes of I-65 until about 6am Thursday morning.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating.
