Brentwood Officer Injured Attempting to Apprehend Shoplifting Suspect

At approximately 7:30 pm on Monday, October 1st Brentwood Police responded to the TJ Maxx located at 330 Franklin Road on a report of a shoplifting in progress. As responding officers were arriving at the store the alleged suspect fled on foot across the parking lot to a waiting vehicle. As the suspect entered the vehicle, Brentwood Officer Scott Willey attempted to reach into the car to prevent the suspect from escaping. The suspect was able to drive away and as he did so Officer Willey was thrown from the vehicle, striking his head on the asphalt surface. The suspect fled from the scene and remains at large.

Officer Willey suffered a head injury after being thrown from the suspect vehicle. He was treated at the scene and transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center by Williamson County EMS. He is being evaluated, but his condition at this time is non-critical.

The suspect in this incident is described as a black male in his 20’s. He is medium height with a thin build and multiple tattoos on his face and neck. The suspect was last seen wearing black pants and a black t-shirt with white writing on the front. The suspect vehicle was described as a white sedan. It was last seen headed north on I-65 in Davidson County.
