Brentwood Library Hosts Climb Aboard the Fire Engine

The Brentwood Library is hosting a fun way for children to learn about fire safety on Saturday, July 11th at 11:00 a.m. Join the Brentwood Firefighters as they allow children of all ages to explore a fire engine and learn about fire safety.

Climbing aboard a real life fire engine, what could be more exciting to a small child?  Or an adult who is a child at heart. On many levels using a sensory approach to learning about firemen, fire safety and see first hand that firemen are “helpers” and if ever in a dangerous situation, firemen are their friends offers a great approach with children.City of Brentwood Fire & Rescue

All are welcome, and the event is part of the Summer Reading Program being hosted by the library.

“Our story that morning is “Lucky Ducklings” which is about firemen rescuing some ducklings and the craft is a fire truck.  This book is also a Volunteer State Book Award book  nominee book.   Story time starts at 10:30 a.m. and families start gathering after we open at 10 a.m.,” Susan Earl, Director of the Brentwood Library explained.

Each summer the Brentwood Library hosts events for children and families to promote reading and learning during the summer months. To see all the programs offered by the library, click here.

Did you know? Every year approximately 3,500 Americans die in a fire? Or that unintentional injuries kill 6,000 children and permanently disable 120,000 kids every year? To us, these figures are more than statistics and represent the faces of individuals that we meet every day. Brentwood Fire & Rescue is trying to change these numbers by aggressively educating the public about what they can do to take responsibility for their safety.

Brentwood Fire & Rescue provides a wide variety of public education activities for all ages and settings. To view a whole list of services, click here.
