The awards keep coming for the Brentwood High TV and Film students. In addition to their strong showing at the Tennessee High School Press Association awards, they also swept the Mark of Excellence Awards sponsored by the Western Kentucky University (WKU) chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
The WKU Mark of Excellence Awards is an annual competition recognizing the hard work of high school journalists in the region. The awards ceremony was held on March 2.
The WBHS 9 staff won first place in all six of the categories it entered.
“This was our first competition of the year, and I’m really proud of the students’ work,” said BHS TV and Film teacher Ronnie Adcock. “This was a good test for us as WKU is a good mix of creative projects like short films and music videos, as well as the news categories.”
Brentwood High received the award for Best Newscast for its WBHS 9 program and the award for Best Short Film. In addition, several students also earned individual awards.
