Brentwood Commisoners Sworn in, Crossley Voted Mayor

Now the hard work begins as the new delegates to the Brentwood City Commission are sworn in and business begins to be undertaken at normal meetings. Yesterday saw the appointment of Jill Burgin as vice mayor. She was the only commissioner who requested the position.

Betsy Crossley and Regina Smithson were up for Mayor with Crossley gaining the position with a 4-3 vote. Crossley will sit as mayor for the next two years.  She last served as Brentwood Mayor from 2009-2011. After the ceremony the commission sat down to business and heard the first reading of the  ordinance that would impose a moratorium on rezoning property to the C4 zoning district outside of the original C4 area. The vote was 6 in favor and one opposed.

The commission will take off on Memorial Day and returns to place members on important boards and committees on Tuesday, May 28th. Congratulations Mayor Crossley.
