Brentwood Academy raced out to a 53-0 lead over Hillsboro, routing the Burros by a 53-14 score in the season opener for both.
A pair of Vanderbilt commitments, quarterback Gavin Schoenwald and receiver Camron Johnson, had big roles for the Eagles.
The Eagles led 18-0 by the end of the first quarter. Schoenwald, who’s heading to Vanderbilt as a tight end, hit Johnson with a 37-yard scoring strike to set up the second BA score.
Tahir Anoor added a 41-yard scoring run in the first half.
Backup quarterback Conner Woodlee was already in by halftime, and hit receiver Mike Archie with a 24-yard scoring strike.
Johnson added a punt return touchdown with 3:11 left in the first half accounting for the Eagles’ final points.
Brentwood Academy (1-0) hosts Father Ryan next weekend.
