Brentwood Academy Student Wins National Scholarship

Sarah Ruth Bryant was named the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Good Citizen Award winner for Brentwood Academy. The DAR Good Citizen is the student who has demonstrated the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. Sarah was sponsored by Travellers Rest Chapter DAR to compete for the national-level scholarship. During the process she was selected as winner for the Cumberland District (18 counties), for the State of Tennessee, for the South East Region (8 states); finally, Sarah was named as the Winner of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) Scholarship. Sarah’s accomplishments were recognized at the State Capitol for Tennessee Statehood Day on June 1. In late June she will travel to Washington DC to Continental Congress, the annual meeting of the NSDAR to accept her scholarship.

Sarah was Valedictorian for Brentwood Academy and a National Merit Scholarship finalist. Sarah served as editor of BA’s literary magazine, Flight. She participated in Youth Legislature, the Student Leadership Team, Model United Nations, Athletics and the Concert Band. She was a part of the Big Sister program, attended Girls State, and as a pianist studied at Blair School of Music and with private instructors.

Sarah is the daughter of Jeffrey and Denise Bryant.  She plans to attend Georgetown University in Washington DC in the fall.
