Brentwood Academy Biology Teacher Tom Cox has been awarded the Outstanding Biology Teacher Award in Tennessee for the past academic year. The award is sponsored in part by the National Association of Biology Teachers.
Mr. Cox presented a video on methods for teaching amino acids, proteins and enzymes in which students used various methods for learning and were clearly engaged in learning the subject material. The judges viewed the presentation as clear and organized, and students were engaging in learning amino acids, proteins (enzymes) production, and the relationship between amino acids and proteins.
Cox holds a B.A. from the University of North Carolina, an M.A.T. from Belmont University, and an M.Div. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He has taught biology at Brentwood Academy since the fall of 2001.
