Brentwood Academy basketball star Darius Garland made his college decision on Friday, and has chosen Vanderbilt.

The five-star prospect, the No. 15 recruit in the country according to Rivals.com, picked the Commodores and coach Bryce Drew over UCLA, Indiana and Kentucky.

Garland said that UCLA, which was his last visit, finished runner-up.

Garland is the second player to commit to coach Bryce Drew in Vanderbilt’s 2018 signing class. The other is South Carolina guard Aaron Nesmith.

A Vanderbilt presence at BA

The Eagles are 10-0 and ranked sixth in the country, according to USA Today.

Johnson and Schoenwald have played basketball for BA in the past.

Garland does not play football. However, the three became friends after playing on a travel hoops squad in elementary school

Vanderbilt started its basketball season with a win over Austin Peay last Friday. BA’s basketball season starts Tuesday.
