Brentwood 2020 Plan Surveys In

Brentwood

Surveys sent out by Brentwood in March to help the city make future plans have been returned to the city at a lower rate than hoped.

As part of an ongoing process by city officials to create an optimal long-term development plan, Brentwood Plan 2020, some 13,000 surveys were sent out by the consulting ETC Institute for the city in March Surveys, also, could have been completed online.

Altogether, 4,094 surveys were filled out, 3,239 written and 855 online. The 31 percent response rate is less than the 40 percent rate from a similar survey in 2006, the last time the city updated its 2020 plan. This was after, even, the deadline to return the survey was extended by the city by a week, from March 21 to March 28.

“Input from citizens is vital as we look to the future,” Kirk Bednar, Brentwood city manager, said.

And the surveys are the most effective way of gathering that input. Bednar said he expected the results of the survey to be known sometime in mid-to-late April.

The next step in the process of the revamping of the Brentwood 2020 Plan is a meeting at the Brentwood Library at 6 p.m. on April 17. The subject of the meeting will be the city’s Major Thoroughfare Plan, and all city residents are encouraged to attend.
