Blackbird Theater is excited to announce the return of Twilight of the Gods, directed by Jason Tucker, at the Williamson County Performing Arts Center at Academy Park.

In Twilight of the Gods, Mark Twain, Edgar Allan Poe, Annie Oakley, Arthur Conan Doyle, and a number of other 19th century luminaries are locked in a battle of wits and ideologies, while a killer in their midst turns their dream for a modern utopia into a Gothic nightmare.

This original comedic thriller by Blackbird founders Wes Driver and Greg Greene was Blackbird’s debut production, earning recognition as “Best New Play of 2010” by the Nashville Scene. The show has enjoyed subsequent productions in New York City, Memphis, and Jefferson City.

Corinne Bupp plays Emily, a young woman with an unexpected invitation to the home of the mysterious Dr. Steiner. Kristin McCalley is Sarah, herself a recent arrival to Steiner’s secretive gathering. The 13-member cast features Phil Brady as Mark Twain, Cassie Hamilton as Annie Oakley, Will Sevier as Arthur Conan Doyle, and Corrie Maxwell as Florence Nightingale, with Randall Lancaster, Connor Weaver, Kay Ayers, Jeremy Maxwell, and Greg Greene. Patrick Kramer returns to the role of H. G. Wells, whom he portrayed in the show’s 2010 premiere.

“I’m excited to get to play with these famous and infamous figures from our history,” states Jason Tucker. “Wes and Greg have placed some of my favorite characters into a wacky night of murder and mayhem.”

Twilight of the Gods will be Blackbird’s first production at the Williamson County Performing Arts Center at Academy Park, by arrangement with Williamson County Parks and Recreation. The Performing Arts Center is on the Academy Park campus (formerly Battleground Academy) at 112 Everbright Avenue, less than a mile from downtown Franklin.

Performances are October 4-6 and 11-13 at 7:00pm (lobby opens 6:00pm) with Sunday matinees October 7 and 14 at 2:30pm (lobby opens 1:30pm). Tickets are $25 general admission and $17.50 for students and seniors.
