BGA Travels to Knoxville to Face Webb

Williamson County Football

By: Amber Pennycuff

The Wildcats have a tough match-up ahead tonight as they travel over to East Tennessee to take on Knoxville’s own Webb.

Webb is currently 3-2, 2-0 in its standing right now.  After taking losses from top-ranked Maryville (6-0) and Baylor (5-1), Webb has made sure to keep a clean record.  The Spartans have taken wins from CAK (2-4), Friendship Christian (4-2, 3-1), and DCA (6-1, 3-1).

This will be no cake-walk for the Wildcats.

After taking a Homecoming win 41-0 against Davidson Academy (2-4, 0-2) last week, the Wildcats have collected a total of 5 wins this season.  BGA is 5-2 overall and 1-0 in the Division 2, Class A East and Middle Region.

Ronald Cleveland racked up three TDs for the Wildcats against Davidson Academy and brought BGA up 21-0 just in the first quarter.

Cleveland will be an essential part in the Wildcats win tonight.  Last time, the junior running back ran 7 times for 120 yards and caught 2 passes for 47 yards.

For Webb, senior Matthew Melton ran for 121-yards and had 55 yards receiving, along with a mean 3-TDs last game.  Also, the Spartans carry a Tennessee commit, Todd Kelly Jr.  Kelly accounted for a touchdown running 39-yards in for the victory.

The Spartans gave DCA its first loss of the season last week, and BGA will have to be on its toes to take over the home scene.

BGA’s defense will be a key point to stopping the ball, and they were locked-and-loaded last game.  Forcing five fumbles, recovering two, and intercepting twice, the Wildcats were dominating on the field.

BGA will kick-off on the green-and-white turf tonight at 7:30 p.m.
