school headerAfter a week off, Battle Ground Academy hosts University School of Jackson Friday night.

The Wildcats (3-0) start this year has been impressive. After four weeks they sit at second place in Division II-A East/Middle Region, winning with an average score of 40-17.

But two weeks ago, St. Benedictine pushed BGA, in a game decided by a touchdown.

USJ (4-0) will give BGA its toughest challenge of the year so far.

Battle Ground Set to Charge

We talked to Coach Roc Batten about his team, the game on Friday and the season so far:

This will be a game of two talented QB’s and the team that makes the least amount of mistakes.  We have to limit their big play ability on offense and create some opportunities for our skill guys to make plays on offense.  We have to continue to win the turnover battle and get pressure on their QB.  We can not sit back and let them dictate the pace of the game.
They are averaging about 4.8 yards per carry so we must stop the run and get off the field on third down.
The past two games we had to show a lot of fight to pull out victories and our players were able to dig deep on the road for two big wins.  We want to continue to improve each week and make strides as a team.  Our seniors continue to grow as leaders and they are doing a good job taking ownership to lead our team in right direction.

Key Players to watch from Battle Ground Academy:

-Clayton Beathard: 42 for 75 for 932 yards and 10 touchdowns

-Marcus Cawthorne: 18 catches for 454 yards and 7 touchdowns

Tune into 104.5 the Zone on Friday night for live updates of Williamson County games.
