Battle Ground Academy(3-0) got a scare at Auburndale on Friday night playing St. Benedict (1-2).
BGA overcame a slow start and a sloppy game at times- the teams combined for almost 200 yards in penalties- to prevail 38-10.
Wildcats Have Wild Third Quarter
Down 17-10 at half, quarterback Clayton Beathard led the Wildcats on a 21-point third quarter that proved to be the difference.
Beathard found freshman Jaylen Frierson breaking loose and they connected for a 68-yard score just 25 seconds into the second half.
It was all BGA from there.

ST. Benedict could not respond, and was held to a punt. Joseph Pasley found daylight under the Friday night lights and ran back 40 yards for a touchdown, giving BGA a 24-17 lead.
St. Benedict actually returned a punt a few minutes later for a touchdown, as a crazy third quarter continued. The game was tied again, but not for long.
Beathard found Marcus Cawthorne for a 36-yard touchdown that put the Wildcats up 31-24 and ended the third quarter.
In the fourth, St. Benedict scored once more, tying the game again. But Beathard and Cawthorne connected again, for a 38-yard score.
Beathard finished 19-36 for 300 yards and 3 touchdowns. Cawthorne had 8 catches for 132 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Next week BGA hosts the University School of Jackson in its first II-AA action of the year.
