The BGA Wildcats will play their second home game against Goodpasture Christian on Friday September 6th. BGA will need to learn from the many mistakes they made in their 28-7 loss against Father Ryan in their home opener in order to be successful on Friday.

Though the running game was successful to some extent against Father Ryan, all of the positive gains on the ground were negated by fumbles. Running back Ronald Cleveland scored BGA’s only points of the night, but quarterback Tucker Beathard also proved he is a double threat by earning a few first downs with quarterback sneaks. His impressive rushing did not, however, make up for the three interceptions he threw. If Beathard can maintain his threat on the ground and cut down on the turnovers, he will be able to lead the Wildcat offense to a final score that looks more like it did in week one (52-20 vs. Coffee County).

The Goodpasture Cougars, who lost to Franklin Road Academy 21-14 on Friday and also have a 1-1 record, should pose less of a threat that Father Ryan did. The key to success for Battle Ground will be to minimize turnovers, especially early in the game. They can’t afford to beat themselves by handing the other team good field position and easy points again.

The Wildcats need to put the Father Ryan loss behind them next Friday, but they can’t forget the mistakes they made. If they can improve from last week by holding on to the ball and giving the crowd more than one play to cheer about the whole game, BGA should be able to bounce back from the loss and defeat the less-intimidating Goodpasture team. Kickoff is at 7 PM at Battle Ground Academy.
