Battle Ground Academy’s defense held Franklin Road Academy to 83 total yards, and Kaleb Seay added three touchdowns, as BGA routed FRA, 50-7, to advance to the Division II-AA state championship game.
Quarterback Nick Semptimphelter was 13 of 18 for 240 yards and two touchdowns, with Garnett Hollis hauling in four catches for 115 yards and a score.
BGA (11-2) will face Christ Presbyterian Academy in the state final on Friday, Nov. 30. CPA beat BGA earlier in the year.
It was never close. FRA had 22 carries for zero yards and just nine first downs.
Running back Tiy Reed scored two first-quarter touchdowns, one, a 31-yard run with 1:25 left and the other, a 7-yard catch from Semptimphelter at the 9:54 mark of the first quarter.
With 5:32 left before half, Semptimphelter’s 46-yard pass to Hollis, followed by Jack Sauder’s point-after, gave BGA a 21-7 advantage.
Seay added a 13-yard rushing touchdown with 1:12 left before half, as the lead stood at 28-7. He’d add a 2-yard score midway through the third quarter, then, had an interception return for a score with 1:35 left in the third.
Running back Jaylen Frierson added a 1-yard touchdown with 2:30 left in the game.
