The Battle Ground Academy defense held Evangelical Christian to 122 yards and forced four turnovers in a 28-0 shutout on Friday.

Quarterback Drew Martin was 24-for-31 passing with 268 yards and two touchdowns, as BGA improved to 5-1.

Defensive back Conner Mitchell led the defense with 5 1/2 stops, a half-tackle for loss and an interception. Briston Bennett (five tackles) and Chico Bennett (4 1/2 tackles, 1/2 sack, one tackle for loss) were also big.

Receivers Jack Jewell (five catches, 86 yards), Tiy Reed (seven for 74) and Ollie Reese (six for 58) were Martin’s top targets.

Reed added a pair of rushing scores, and Reese caught both of Martin’s scoring strikes.

BGA held a 14-0 lead at half, both coming to Reese in the first half. The first was a 12-yard strike just 2:20 into the game.
