Next Friday, October 4th, Battle Ground Academy will take on Davidson Academy at home. It’s homecoming week at BGA and there will be festivities all week leading up to the game, so the stands will be packed and the excitement will be high on Friday night.

After losing to Pope John Paul II and falling to 4-2 last week, BGA will once again play against a much lower ranked team and should be able to come out with a victory.

This is not a guaranteed win for the Wildcats though. When it finally looked like the BGA team had their turnover problem under control, they took a step backwards last week, giving up four fumbles and an interception. Turnovers have been the difference for BGA in both of their loses this season, so a failure to hang on to the ball, even in a lopsided game, could mean disaster.

The Wildcat offense was also much less effective against JPII though they have had little trouble scoring most of the season. JPII’s time of possession last week was almost twice as much as BGA’s, so the blame cannot be placed solely on the offense. Though the defense only allowed 10 points, they did not give the offense much chance to earn those points back. BGA had possession of the ball for just a little over five minutes the entire second half. In order to win against Davidson Academy, the offense will need to be more productive with it’s time, but the defense will also need to work harder at shutting down the opposing offense and creating turnovers.

Friday’s homecoming game will include special performances from the BGA Chamber Choir and the presentation of the homecoming court at halftime. Kickoff is at 7 PM.
