How about that timing?

A new sports bar opened in Berry Farms, just in time for the Titans’ first playoff game in, well, a long time.

Benchmark Sports Pub and Eater opened at the end of December in the Boyle Investment Group project’s town center.

Benchmark, which is known for its downtown Nashville location on 117 2nd Avenue, moved into a space facing Hughes Mill Park. Popular dishes at Benchmark include Jamie’s melt down (which is a 1/2 lb burger) and the Memphis rib sandwich.

The restaurant, at 5000 Hughes Crossing, is owned by husband and wife Franklin residents Jamie and Jamie Grissom.

“Thank you to all who have been supporting us in the first 2 weeks of being open,” they posted on the restaurant’s Facebook page. “Our family and friends have been there for us. We are still working out the kinks. Special thank you to the residents of Berry Farms…… you have been amazingly patient. We will get better as we fill the staff. The biggest issue is just trying to find a full staff.”

Right now, the restaurant is looking for hosts, cooks, dishwashers and servers/bartenders.

The Berry Farms Benchmark is geared to be a bit more food and family oriented than the downtown Nashville tourist and night-life driven one, the Grissoms said.

“We are going to focus on having great food because we think there will be a lot of take-out there. It will be much more family oriented. About 85 percent of our downtown traffic is tourists, we think within the Franklin market as high as 98 percent will be families or locals looking for a night out and just want a good local option to watch a game. We also really want to cater to sports.”
