On December 19th from 10a-noon, the Battle of Franklin Trust is hosting a holiday activity perfect for children ages 5-12, who love history. The event is called Christmas in Carrie’s Attic and it’s part of the Hands on History, an education program held at Carnton Plantation and The Carter House.

Christmas in Carrie’s Attic takes place at Carnton Plantation. The children will be read ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, make old fashioned Christmas cards and ornaments and may even be visited by old Saint Nicholas himself!

Who was Carrie?
John McGavock inherited Carnton Plantation from his father, Randal McGavock (who was also the former Nashville mayor). In 1848, John married Carrie Elizabeth Winder and they had five children, three of whom died at young ages.

Learn more about the history of Carnton Plantation here. Reservations for this event are required and the cost is $15/child. Please contact Angell Wallace to make a reservation by either responding to this email or calling (615) 794-0903.
